If you treat a romantic relationship like an air fern, it might wither

A loving, caring relationship challenges men and women to be realistic in their expectations. Men and women want romantic relationships to be exciting, sexually fulfilling, intellectually stimulating and supportive. At the same time, men and women are pulled in many directions by modern life's many stresses and time demands.
Partners need to carefully consider the time and energy necessary to have a fulfilling romantic relationship. Relationships are not air ferns that exist on their own. A loving relationship requires consistent time and energy.
Research has shown that good relationships contribute to the quality of life. Healthy relationships offer comfort, support and energize people. But finding the time to keep a relationship in tune is a challenge.
Three things you can do to nurture productive relationships:
- Give time and energy to your relationship without resentment. Communicate with each other, share time together and create special moments.
- Validate each other. Respect and accept your partner's emotions, even if you don't share them.
- Keep a good "fun quotient" in your relationship. Engaging in multiple playful moments strengthens the bond of a relationship.
